Marlyce Roberson-McCants’ voice has been described as “beautiful with incredible range.” She has wowed audiences with her powerhouse vocals and gospel enthused performances. A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, she performed her first solo at the age of 9 at her grandfather’s pastoral anniversary. Since that time, she has dedicated her life to the performance of gospel music and found ways to share her gifts with churches across the United States.
She has sung with groups such as The Everett Moore Singers, Eternal Life, Myron Cobbs & A New Song, and The Kalamazoo Mass Choir. Her gifts have allowed her to showcase her acting abilities with professional theatre companies such as the Cincinnati Black Theater Company, The Kalamazoo Civic Players, and Washington Productions.
Marlyce and her husband Rev. Dr. John H. McCants, Jr., are the first lady and pastor of Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church in Warren, OH respectively. Marlyce has served as the Connectional (International) Worship Director for the Woman’s Missionary Society of the AME Church, is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is the mother of 3 children, Kristapher “Krista”, John III and Imani. She released her debut CD entitled “Heaven” in 2007 and is releasing a new CD entitled “Worship Experience” fall of 2020. Her prayer is that God will continue to allow her to serve as His vessel of praise.
